Legend has it, if musicians spend enough time around the roaring waters of Niagara Falls, they end up making music in various shades of blue. Brandon Agnew is an independent roots musician. His songwriting is inspired by life in Ontario and shaped by time in New Orleans, Memphis and Buffalo.
Northern stories, Southern sounds ...
His 2021 album, 'Mave's Variety', was recorded live off-the-floor at Banquet Sound Studio (Owner: Nick Boyd - Hollerado, Anyway Gang) in Toronto with Producer, Joseph Stracuzzi. In 2024 he released, 'Aquarius Moon', a 7-song album recorded in the same format. Both recordings feature The Pocket 4's (Andrew Barbisan, James Gizzie, Benny Gutman, Bob Goodall) as his backing band.
Brandon performs regularly throughout Ontario, often with banjo player, Dave Matthews. He lives in St. Catharines with his partner, Jess, and their orange cat, Gemelli. He is a member of Folk Music Ontario and the Niagara Artists Centre.
He has played shows with Canadian touring artists Mariel Buckley, Nicolette & The Nobodies, Bobby Dove, Billy Rogers, A Sea of Gold & Burgundy, Soft Animals and Miniscule. He currently heads two original projects: The Night Shadows, a blues-y band, and The Euchre Party, a bluegrass-y band.
All original, just like you ...
